On September 8, 1943, R.G. and Hermina Meyer purchased the Rock Front Store located on the corner of 101 Harris Street (Main and Loop 109) At this site R.G. constructed their home and a garage apartment which still stands today. R.G. began making his family recipe for smoked sausage that was taught to him in 1915 by his father, Henry Meyer who immigrated from Germany to the United States in the late 1800s. R.G smoked the sausage in a little smokehouse located in their back yard, and with a growing customer base for the delicious sausage, he then constructed a second smokehouse on the rooftop of the store.
I can't give this place enough start... I ordered BBQ to ship and my dad got it and it was wonderful. Also dine in is great. Staff so friendly and helpful. Brisket is wonderful and the chili is to die for. Portions are big so go hungry. Sausage were great too. I will be back
Our family had a 90th birthday dinner party for a relative last night. The set up in the party room was perfect. Plenty of tables and chairs to accommodate us all. We used the TV to show a vid of old family photos which brought back fond memories. The food was superb...
When my wife and I moved to Elgin 5 years ago, we went to Myers and had a bad experience and we never went back. Last week I decided to give them another try and I am so glad I did. The brisket was fantastic, and I loved the peppery flavor from the bark. In short, I will be back again and again.
We held my mom's birthday party in their party room last night! What GREAT experience! The wait staff were always there to take our drink order with a smile! They seemed to truly enjoy their job! They helped to clean up and load the car afterwards. The food was absolutely amazing as always.
We are pretty new to the area and haven't really tried out too many BBQ places because we came across this one early on. THe sausage is to die for (you can get it in the stores, though it is always better in the restaurant with their sauce) THe brisket is my very favorite...
